August 15, 2008: "Mariah Carey Needs Assistants To Dry Herself Off After Swimming"
Mariah Carey has been photographed being dried off by two assistants after she swam in the Mediterranean Sea. The "Touch My Body" singer, who has a reputation for being a diva, enjoyed a peaceful swim on her second honeymoon with husband Nick Cannon off the island of Capri. As she emerged from the water, Mariah was quickly met by two assistants bearing towels, who then proceeded to ensure she was completely dry by rubbing her all over. A source said: "Mariah looked in absolute heaven as she was dried off. She just held out her arms to her side and let the assistants get rid of any water remaining on her body." Mariah, 38, has previously revealed she likes being called a diva because it means she is successful. She said: "They throw that word around like it's a Frisbee! I grew up hearing it, because my mother is an opera singer. The actual definition is 'a talented female singer'. Definition two is 'a difficult woman who is successful,' I believe. So I take it as a compliment." Despite her reputation, Mariah insists she doesn't make enough demands. The 38-year-old star said: "You know what? I guess I am a diva in many ways! When it comes to certain things, yes, I can be difficult and a little bit rigid about what I want. Am I demanding? I don't think I'm demanding enough." *** August 1, 2008: "Mariah Carey Buys Second Home In West Indies" Mariah Carey has bought a $5 million holiday home to enjoy a second honeymoon. The 'Touch My Body' singer has bought a property in the West Indies which boasts five bedrooms, a Jacuzzi and an indoor swimming pool. Despite the lavish new home, Mariah is also setting her sights on buying another property. A source said: "Mariah's just bought her and Nick an amazing hideaway in the West Indies for them to escape to. She's also eying up another getaway in Monte Carlo as she loves chilling out there." The couple hope to find the time for a second honeymoon some time soon. An insider said: "Mariah has been busy in the studio, while Nick has been filming for his TV series." "As soon as the pair get some free time, they will be jetting out to their new pad to make up for lost time." *** July 25, 2008: "Mariah Carey Denies Love Problems" Mariah Carey has spoken to MTV News to deny rumours that her marriage to Nick Cannon is in crisis. Some recent reports suggested that Mimi and Nick were having problems just a few months after their wedding. But Carey told us: "It's good, Life is beautiful, and things are going well." When asked what she thought of the rumours Mariah said: "I'm like, 'Why would we have gotten married to do that? People are going to say what they say, but what would be the purpose? �I guess other people do those things for a purpose, but I don't know. I'm ecstatic, so be ecstatic with me! Be happy with me. Can we celebrate?" *** July 21, 2008: "Mariah Carey Reveals She Is Always Late" Mariah Carey claims she can't help running late. The 'Touch My Body' singer tries to be punctual but can never quite manage it. She said: "I always run at least half an hour late. I am such a bad timekeeper. I don't know how I always manage to do it but I do. I try my best but it doesn't bother me that I can't keep time." While Mariah, 38, isn't worried by her lax timekeeping, she admits her 27-year-old husband Nick Cannon is finding it hard to deal with. She added to gossip website Absolute Now: "Nick has been trying to keep me in check." *** July 18, 2008: "Mariah Carey Set To Call Las Vegas Home" Mariah Carey is set to have her own Las Vegas residency. The 38-year-old singer has been offered a $100 million deal to perform every night for three years at Las Vegas' Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino. A source told America's Star magazine: "Mariah is one of the most popular performers around. She could easily become the queen of the Las Vegas strip." If the deal goes ahead, the 'Touch My Body' star would be following in the footsteps of Celine Dion, Cher, Sir Elton John and Bette Midler, who have all completed residencies in the gambling capital. Meanwhile, Mariah - who wed Nick Cannon in April after a six-month relationship - has revealed she is finding married life "quite pleasant." She said: "I can have a personal life, and I can have a life making records and doing whatever other creative things I want to do. She said: "When I was in an unhappy place in my life, I always wanted to be kidnapped. I just wanted a way out, but I didn't have one." Mariah also revealed she couldn't believe her luck when her new husband Nick Cannon "kidnapped" her to propose. She added: "He sort of kidnapped me and took me on a helicopter ride. When they were in Hawaii where Mariah was filming the video for 'I'll Be Lovin' U', Nick dashed off to buy her gifts at Tiffany and Co. and Louis Vuitton to keep her happy." When Mariah injured herself during the shoot, Nick was right by her side. The source added to OK! magazine: "He helped Mariah out of the pool. She looked like she was going to cry." Mariah is also reportedly taking control of 27-year-old Nick's career, and is keen to promote his musical ability with high-profile performances. Mariah Carey's marriage won't last more than six months, according to friends. Sources tell Life & Style that Mariah�s diva demands could cause the pair to split. �I give the marriage six months, tops,� said a source close to the singer. �I can�t see it lasting.� "Nick does whatever Mariah wants him to - he's like her puppy. She said: "I might be doing a workout video, which will be fun, so I can show how I achieved my goal. Although I've lost weight I still have my curves!" Mariah has confessed she made the decision to slim down after seeing photos of herself looking out of shape. Although she wanted to get fitter, the 38-year-old star doesn't think people should obsess about their weight. She added: "I think people should be a size that they are comfortable with. The thing with me is that because I am constantly having my picture taken and am on TV I could see that I really did need to lose some of the bulk." *** April 10, 2008: "Mariah Carey Symphathises With Britney Spears" Mariah Carey sympathises with troubled singer Britney Spears - because she knows better than most how difficult it can be to live her life under such media scrutiny. The 38-year-old singer admits she struggled with fame in her early years in the music industry, but believes Spears is not doing herself any favours by associating herself with the wrong type of people. She says, "It's easy to say, 'With Britney, this and that didn't work out,' but I'm not that presumptuous. "I've experienced it myself. Setbacks come if you lead your life in the public eye and let people get closer to you than you should. "But it was never as dramatic with me as it was with Britney. I've never done hard drugs and I always had a firm hold of somewhere." *** April 7, 2008: "Mariah Carey Caught in Lipsynch Rumor" Mariah Carey has been criticized for miming the lyrics of her new songs in two European shows. The "Hero" crooner was promoting her upcoming album "E=MC�" in German and U.K. and several sites that acquired the footage of her performing claimed that she has been lipsyching. On Saturday April 5, Carey was tapped as one of the judges in "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" (DSDS), a German talent show similar to American Idol and as a guest performer. She performed her #1 single "Touch My Body" that looked like sung on top of a played record. PerezHilton.com reported that at least one of the judges noticed the lipsynch. The day before that Carey also appeared on Channel 4's "Paul O'Grady Show" singing "Touch My Body" but many claimed that she also did a lipsynch in the performance. No rep from Carey's camp has responded to this allegation too. While in Europe, Carey has also been hit with unpleasant rumor when her list of diva-like demands was allegedly leaked. Among those that she wanted are a 1st class flight for her Jack Russell that costs $13,000, 11 bodyguards to stand over her in a restaurant to prevent people seeing her eat, a humidifier in her dressing room, a $20,000 gym installed next to her penthouse and lots of Krispy Kremes donuts. *** April 4, 2008: "Mariah Carey: Diva In Many Ways" This week Mariah Carey arrived in London to promote her new album.. and so did her outrageous diva demands! In honor of this, The Daily Mail has made a list of Mariah's past and present crazy demands. Here's just some of them: Mariah has been known to have 11 bodyguards surround her restaurant table so diners can't see her eat. When signing autographs this week at Selfridges department store, Mariah demanded a �50,000 antique table, covered with silk cloth, to scribble upon, flown in from New York. She sat on a �1,000 throne and was surrounded by roses and butterflies. She insisted on having a �10,000 gym installed next to her penthouse suite at Claridge's. It was also rumoured she was bringing 100 pairs of shoes with her on the trip. She booked every penthouse in Claridge's hotel, so she can have ultimate privacy. When accepting her role in the upcoming film Tennessee, an independent, low-budget production, Mariah was told budgetary constraints meant she would have to travel to the location on an economy-class air ticket, rather than her usual first class or private jet. Mariah agreed ... then bought every single economy seat on her flight, and travelled alone in the cabin. She keeps 20 humidifiers around her bed. She likes being carried around, because wearing high heels all the time hurts her feet. "That's a completely different era and time... I'm just feeling really happy and grateful." The 38-year-old said her success was particularly satisfying because it struck a blow for women and minorities. "For me, in my mind, the accomplishment is just that much sweeter," she explained. "In terms of my ethnicity, always feeling like an outsider, always feeling different ... for me it's about saying, 'Thank you Lord, for giving me the faith to believe in myself when other people had written me off'." *** April 1, 2008: "Mariah Carey's Birthday Denial" Mariah Carey has said she doesn't "have birthdays" and claimed that she still feels like a 12-year-old. Jackson called in sick after coming down with a bout of influenza at the beginning of the week. Jackson's illness was so severe she checked into a Los Angeles hospital, suffering from shortness of breath. But "SNL" bosses have now confirmed Carey will serve as the musical guest on Saturday's show, which will be guest hosted by Jonah Hill. It's not the first time Carey has replaced Jackson -- Carey took a waitress role in the new film "Tennessee" when reported work commitments and film delays prompted Jackson to quit.
